Overview of ZoomText

ZoomText is accessibility software for visually impaired people who want to use the computer.

ZoomText has a simple menu structure and is easy to learn. It also allows full adjustment of text and background colors on the screen. The mouse pointer can be adjusted in size and color and provided with guide lines to help find the mouse faster on the screen. The cursor can also be enlarged and provided with guide lines.

ZoomText Magnifier and Speech is a fully integrated magnification and reading program tailored to users with visual impairments. Magnifier/Reader magnifies and enhances everything on your computer screen, such as:

• Magnification: Magnify up to 36X to see everything clearly and choose from different ways of magnification
• Contrast: Contrast means adjusting the colors on the screen so that the text and background are more different from each other. This makes reading easier and reduces eye fatigue.
• Speech: Have longer texts read aloud by ZoomText such as, emails, websites, documents, etc.
• Echo: Place your mouse over a word, phrase or icon and ZoomText will speak it.
• Key echo: If typing is not easy, have ZoomText repeat what you type. So hear the individual letters or words as you type.

Speech

• Reads information as needed in places the mouse passes by

• Speaks all on-screen text, including menus, dialog boxes and controls
• The amount of voice information is adjustable
• Reads characters, words or text by line by moving the cursor
• Keyboard echo per character or per typed word or both
• Contains document reading functions for speaking large sections of text in its own window (DocReader) or in the program’s window (AppReader)
• ZoomText Magnification & Speech has two functions, which can be used to read out a document, message or Internet page. These are the “DocReader” and “AppReader.
• Docreader: with the DocReader, a document can be read aloud in a separate window. In this window there are buttons to enlarge the text in the image and to change the text or background color. The section of text being read aloud displays in a different color for easy tracking.
• AppReader: The AppReader can be used to read out a text in the original window, for example an Internet page. Choose where you want the reading to start. A clearly visible frame marks the text being read aloud for easy reading along
